Libra Association announces launch date for stablecoin

Despite regulatory problems, the association does not intend to deviate from its original plans
The social networking stablecoin is due to launch in the second half of 2020. This was stated by the chairman of the board of the Libra Association Berntran Perez in an interview with Les Echos. He called the fears of financial regulators unfounded.

“We do not want to become the new BlackRock (the world's largest asset management company - editor's note). Therefore, concerns about the destabilizing effect of our reserve currency on the currencies of the central banks that will be included in our basket seem unfounded to me, ”Peres said.

According to him, by the time Libra is launched, all doubts of regulators will be dispelled. The project has been repeatedly criticized by central banks of various countries, as well as by representatives of the US government.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Finance of France proposed to ban the use of Libra in the country and create its own cryptocurrency in the European Union. Also, Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said that the development of the project will be blocked in Europe, as it threatens the "monetary sovereignty" of the authorities.
