Binance switches to ERC-20 USDT tokens

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced the transition from OMNI addresses of USDT tokens to addresses of the ERC-20 standard. Therefore, for some time, the ability to deposit / withdraw Tether stablecoins will not be available.
The transition will take place on Thursday, July 4th, and USDT transactions will be unavailable for 30-40 minutes.

In the future, ERC20 addresses will be used by default. Clients of the exchange will be able to make deposits in USDT to OMNI addresses that were created before, but withdrawals to them will not be available in the future.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao explained this by the small number of users using OMNI addresses. The exchange follows the requirements of its clients.
